Merriam-Webster.com lists one definition of "tolerance" as, "sympathy or indulgence for beliefs or practices differing from or conflicting with one's own."
Lately I have been struggling with how marijuana prohibition has lasted so long despite all of the evidence that prohibition doesn't achieve the goals of those who support prohibition and the fact that prohibition has always done more harm than good to every society that has implemented a policy of prohibition.
Based on all of the information I have read, prohibition is an irrational response to any societal or moral problem.
When I started USMRP.com, my intention was to choose a controversial subject for a blog that would generate traffic in order to make money. Unfortunately, I never thought that I would become so frustrated. My problem is that I thought there would be two sides to the marijuana legalization debate, but what I have discovered is that I can not find a reasonable argument in support of marijuana prohibition.
I have become frustrated with those who support marijuana prohibition because 1) their arguments aren't supported by imperical and/or historical evidence, and 2) they rarely even participate in the conversation/debate.
So, I have decided to try to be more tolerant to their opinions in the hope that someone will share them with me.
I have always been taught that one of the greatest strengths of the United States of America is our diversity and I believe this. Everyone's opinion is important and I would like to hear from you regardless of where you stand on the issue.
