PUFMM Needs Your Help

People United for Medical Marijuana (PUFMM) is an extremely active and organized grass roots organization that is trying to legalize Medical Marijuana in Florida.

I think that they may achieve their goal in 2010, but they need your help.

Mexico Decriminalizes Small Amounts of Marijuana...

Today, Mexico decriminalized small amounts of marijuana, cocaine and heroin.  

The new law sets out maximum "personal use" amounts for drugs, also including LSD and methamphetamine. People detained with those quantities no longer face criminal prosecution.

Prescription Drug Deaths Increase

Prescription drug illnesses and deaths have hit an all time high according to the Institute for Safe Medication Practices.

Yet, Americans still continue to debate (or ignore) legalization of Marijuana despite the fact that Medical Marijuana is an effective drug for many medical conditions, has been proven to reduce the side effects of chemotherapy, and has never resulted in a single death.

Why are we, as a nation, so stupid?

Frank Introduces Bills to Prevent Federal Criminal Prosecution for Medical and Personal Marijuana Use

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Barney Frank today announced that he has introduced two bills concerning the use of marijuana in the U.S.

The Marijuana Patient Protection Act (H.R. 2835) would prevent federal authorities from prosecuting pharmacies, growers and users of medical marijuana in states where the use of the substance for medical reasons is legal.  The bill has received support from members of both parties.

“There are some people who are in severe pain for whom nothing else seems to work,” said Congressman Frank.  “It is cruel to prevent them from having access to something which helps relieve their pain.  This is especially true because so many states allow it.  For the federal government to come in and supersede state law is a real mistake.”
